In the latest raid Amirdrassil, there is a new weapon for two-handed classes that rely on strength in World of Warcraft: Fyr’alath, the Dreambreaker. It is quite rare and reserved for players who are very lucky or raid regularly. However, that could change starting March 6.
What kind of axe is this?
- Fyr’alath, the Dreambreaker, is a legendary two-handed axe with an active ability that deals massive damage. It is said to be particularly good for Death Knight tanks.
- After the axe was rather weak at launch, it received several buffs and is now the most sought-after item for Death Knights, Paladins, and Warriors.
- The axe drops from the final boss of Amirdrassil, Fyrakk, on all difficulties. For the first time, Fyr’alath dropped during the World First Kill on Fyrakk in mythic mode.
Why is it guaranteed for me? Along with Fyr’alath, a “Bad Luck Protection” was introduced into the game. This is a system intended to prevent you from never receiving a coveted item, no matter how hard you try.
The feature ensures that your chance of getting Fyr’alath increases each week if the axe does not drop. However, the game does not reveal exactly how much this chance grows each time.
Wowhead’s data miners claim to have found data related to this “Bad Luck Protection” with specific values. According to them, you would be guaranteed to get Fyr’alath if you:
- kill Fyrakk 7 times on mythic
- or 15 times in heroic mode
Since you can only defeat the boss once a week, you will need 15 weeks in heroic mode for a guaranteed drop. The 100% mark would thus be reached on Wednesday, March 6. From then on, if the numbers hold true, you should be guaranteed to get Fyr’alath if you have killed Fyrakk on heroic every week.
More about the current patch 10.2.5:
Just looting the axe is not enough, you’ll need gold and help afterward
However, you do not have to kill the final boss in heroic mode to obtain the axe. Fyr’alath also drops on normal difficulty and in LFR, although with significantly lower odds.
As soon as you have looted the axe, you need to make sure to upgrade it to legendary status and, most importantly, to make it equippable. Otherwise, the power of the weapon will simply overwhelm you.
To wield Fyr’alath, you need to invest about 1 million gold and complete several steps. You will need materials from the open world, from skinning/leatherworking, inscription, and alchemy. Depending on how well you get along with your guild or other players, you might save more or less here.
Keep in mind that the numbers are based on data mining and assumptions. Whether Fyr’alath is really guaranteed starting tomorrow, we cannot say for sure. And even if the numbers are not accurate or you have not been diligent enough over the last 15 weeks, farming is still worth it. Because the Legendary now drops up to 12 times per raid.
