Horde and Alliance are soon to work even better together. More and more of the faction boundaries are falling in World of Warcraft.
What is “Mob Tagging” all about? In modern World of Warcraft, most enemies can only be attacked by a specific number of players at the same time, allowing them to loot. Whoever attacks an enemy first “tags” that opponent for themselves, thus allowing them to get loot. Typically, enemies can be tagged by 5 players – the 6th player would then see the opponent as “gray” and would no longer receive loot.
So far, there was also a division into factions. If an Alliance player attacks a mob, it is gray for Horde players.
What is going to change? The faction boundary for “Mob Tagging” will be lifted. In the future, both Horde and Alliance players can attack an enemy and jointly claim the loot. However, this does not apply in Warmode. Here, both factions will continue to work strictly against each other and cannot share mobs accordingly.
As a result of this change, it will no longer be so exhausting for the outnumbered faction to quest in densely populated areas. They will have to “fight over mobs” with the other faction less often and can complete quest objectives together.
Is there more cooperation to come? Yes, that is foreseeable. After cross-faction play in dungeons and raids was received so well by the community, Blizzard has already announced that further steps will be taken. Although this poses some technical challenges for the developers, the Game Director has already announced that they will try to introduce cross-faction guilds during Dragonflight.
The interaction between Horde and Alliance is becoming increasingly intense in World of Warcraft. As new options become available, we will of course report on them.
What do you think about this? Good that you can play better with the other faction? Or does this ruin the spirit of Warcraft?
