During the tournament “Mythic Dungeon International” (MDI) in WoW: Dragonflight, a team set a new record. They completed a dungeon faster than anyone ever in the history of the tournament.
What kind of tournament is this? The MDI is an international competition in World of Warcraft. Teams race each other in Mythic Keystone dungeons (“Mythic+”). 8 of these teams advance to the Global Finals and compete for a prize pool of 300,000 dollars.
During the Global Finals, the team “Mandatory” set a new record for the Ruby Life Pools. They completed the Ruby Life Pools, which until recently was the hardest dungeon, in 8 minutes and 54 seconds. This is the fastest dungeon run in the history of the MDI, as raider.io confirms (via Twitter).
The previous record was held by “Perplexed” with a time of 9 minutes and 16 seconds. During the MDI, almost every team is under 10 minutes, but Mandatory is the only team that managed to go under 9 minutes.

How Mandatory breaks the record
This setup was chosen by Mandatory for the dungeon: A protection warrior, a discipline priest, a feral druid, a fire mage, and an unholy death knight made up the team. Their Keystone level was set to +20.
The Ruby Life Pools is a dungeon that runs relatively straightforward and is well-suited for speedruns.
First, they brought all the mobs from the first corridor into the boss room of Melidrussa the Cold, defeating the first mini-boss, Trotzer Draghar, and an ancient colossus. They were already using their battle rush for this.
After a time of 2:07, they reached the second area of the dungeon. They skipped the two notorious dragons to save time. However, in Mythic+ dungeons, a certain number of mobs must be killed to reach 100% defeated enemies. In the last trash group, they defeat the Bound Destroyer and take the remaining mobs into the boss fight. This distinguishes Mandatory from other groups that usually defeat the previous group entirely.
Once they have defeated the second boss, the team’s time is at 6:24. The players sneak past the upcoming opponents – the Storm Channeler and two Storm Warriors – using invisibility potions to get directly to the location of the final boss. There, they pull all mobs, including the mini-boss High Channeler Ryvati.
After they pulled the final boss, Mandatory went back to the two Storm Warriors they had skipped earlier to fill their percentage. They bring them into the boss fight against Erkhart and Kyrakka. The final fight lasts a total of 1:14.
