The newest race in World of Warcraft loses an important bonus. But that’s not such a big deal – because there is something as a ‘replacement’.
Even though the biggest content from WoW: Dragonflight is now available and there are no new raids or dungeons, the developers still have a few patches planned. The Update 10.2.5 Seeds of Renewal brings some bigger changes – and the Dracthyr are also affected. The Callers will lose one of their racial abilities, and that in the same expansion where the ability was introduced.
You can see the trailer for the current patch here:
What will be removed? The racial ability “Familiar Skies” will be removed from the game with patch 10.2.5. This bonus has previously ensured that the cooldown of “Sailing” is reduced by one minute when the Dracthyr is on a continent that they have fully explored.
However, those who think of a nerf are making a mistake. Because the removal of this racial ability is accompanied by a quite significant change that is clearly positive.
What else changes for Dracthyr? With patch 10.2.5, Blizzard expands dragon riding to other mounts and brings it back to the old world. However, a change is also coming to the Dracthyr. They will now be able to use dragon riding at full speed and soar into the air. Previously, they could only do this in a limited variant.
In the future, the Dracthyr and their “Sailing” will benefit from all talents of dragon riding.
At the same time, the cooldown of your Sailing ability will be reduced to 10 seconds. Therefore, the racial ability “Familiar Skies” is no longer necessary.
As soon as you, as Dracthyr, have played the intro quest on the Forbidden Island (the starting quest for Dracthyr) and have unlocked dragon riding in the first area of the Dragon Isles, your Sailing will be upgraded.
However, be aware that the flight pace of dragon riding in the old world will be slightly slowed down, as the old continents are simply too small to implement the full speed of dragon riding meaningfully.
