Every month, new cosmetic items come to the World of Warcraft through the trading post. However, the latest from March 2023 has faced considerable backlash, even though the design is very well received. The problem: they are displayed incorrectly for many characters.
What kind of outfits are these?
- The trading post is a new feature where you can earn “currencies” every month and earn cosmetic items like transmogs and mounts.
- Among the rewards in March are a fancy pirate hat and a complete set in the style of a jester from the Darkmoon fair.
- However, it is precisely these transmog items that are causing players to complain in droves.
Do you want to earn the outfits yourself? These are the easiest tasks to earn currencies.
These are the issues: Since shortly after the release of the new rewards, there have been threads on reddit reporting problems with the Darkmoon harlequin’s bells.
Apparently, the transmog set simply removes certain parts from your model when you wear the items. Many pictures show that the character’s head is missing. These are known as “clipping” errors.
However, a topic that has gained even more traction is the tricorne of the fearsome admiral. A user shows a picture of the otherwise fancy pirate hat on his gnome, where the pink hair is clearly visible through the fabric and the hat itself is stuck in the forehead:
Certain races suffer from transmogs
The errors have sparked a discussion. Just the post with the hat has amassed over 5,000 upvotes and 356 comments within a day. Most of them simply express annoyance or cynicism.
Remarks that one cannot hold a small indie company accountable for such things are often seen. The frustration is particularly high because many fans expect better quality control from a studio like Blizzard.
Some users, however, point out that such problems have existed for years. Particularly, gnomes seem to be affected by corresponding errors, and it is said: “Confirmed: not even Blizzard’s art team plays gnomes.”

Others report that not only gnomes are affected by these problems. Undead have also been struggling for ages with their bones showing through certain clothing items.
In further threads, players are somewhat more constructive and discuss how such errors could be fixed. They suggest setting up an “invisibility field” around hats to simply conceal hair.
So far, there hasn’t been a fix from Blizzard yet.
