A streamer in WoW Classic narrowly escaped death because he was too curious and wanted to loot everything he saw.
In the Classic version of World of Warcraft, there are many traps and obstacles that can unexpectedly lead to the demise of a character. This is usually not a problem – except when playing in hardcore mode. Because in that case, every fatal mistake is guaranteed to be the last, and the journey starts anew.
Although all the dangers in World of Warcraft Classic are largely known, there are still incidents where some players are surprised by sudden enemies. This also happened to the streamer Quin69, who clicks on a strange object – and narrowly escapes death.
What happened? The streamer Quin69 is part of the streamer guild “OnlyFangs” and has set out to reach level 60 in the hardcore version of Classic. Almost reaching his goal, he is exploring the Plaguelands – an end-game area of WoW Classic.
Here he spots something on the ground and follows his inner urge to loot it immediately, only to narrowly escape his own death.
The fateful item: Blood of Heroes.
What kind of item is this? In the Classic version of World of Warcraft, everyone eventually stumbles upon the small, red puddles in the Plaguelands known as “Blood of Heroes.”
This is an item required for a few crafting recipes and quests, but is pretty useless for most classes.
What seems like a bit of bonus loot at first glance causes quite a shock moment when the item is opened:
2 elite enemies at level 60 appear, immediately launching an attack. Additionally, both of them use an ability that reduces movement speed by 60%. This makes escape nearly impossible. A few hits from these two enemies are enough to send a character to the digital afterlife. In the world of hardcore WoW, forever.
As a rogue, Quin69 is able to survive the whole ordeal because he uses “Vanish” to leave the fight and simultaneously remove all slow effects from himself. He is even lucky that none of the enemies resist the Vanish – something that can indeed happen with opponents several levels above his character.
Sometimes duels also end in death – even when professionals face “noobs”.
