A new game mode for WoW Classic is starting soon. It will be even harder if WoW Classic HC was not hard enough for you.
World of Warcraft Classic was a great success, and especially the “Hardcore” mode fueled that even more. However, Blizzard wants to fulfill a wish for the fans and adds another layer of difficulty. The challenge will be a bit tougher, as you won’t even be able to rely on the help of other players – at least regarding equipment.
What kind of mode is this? In the “Solo Self Found” mode, the normal rules from the hardcore mode apply at first. This means you only have one life – if you die, that’s it for the character. You can only delete it or transfer it to another realm. However, there are additional restrictions:
- You cannot trade with other players.
- You cannot use the mailbox – not even to send something to your twinks or receive something from other characters.
- You cannot use the auction house.
This means you will have to obtain all equipment either through quests, drops, or crafting yourself. This gives the difficulty an additional boost since you cannot just buy the best equipment from the auction house to gain an advantage.
When will it be released? There is no specific date yet, although the general timeframe is already known. During the announcement of the roadmap for 2024, it was mentioned that the “Solo Self Found” mode should start in February. So you only have to wait a few more weeks before you can take on the additional challenge.
Why is WoW Classic HC so popular? Even before the official realms, “Hardcore Challenges” were popular in WoW Classic, but the official launch of the servers further fueled the interest. A broader audience has now been addressed, and everyone who previously had no desire for interface add-ons with tracking could now join more easily since WoW supports it by default.
At the same time, the large participation in WoW Classic HC also means that there are plenty of entertaining videos from content creators. Whether it’s following the journey to level 60 with the risk of instant death or reactions to particularly dramatic deaths. One of these deaths has even become so famous that it got its own cinematic.
