Blizzard has revealed how PvP will work in World of Warcraft: Classic. Here there is a similar release plan as in PvE.
In the summer of this year, World of Warcraft: Classic will be released. Those who wish to can finally experience the “Vanilla” experience of WoW again and enjoy themselves in the old world of Azeroth, long before the Cataclysm or even the changes in The Burning Crusade.
PvP comes in 6 phases: The PvP was previously a major unknown. The PvP system has also undergone many changes in Classic. At first, there were no battlegrounds and PvP was only available in the open world – and even without rewards.
Now Blizzard has revealed how the individual PvP contents of Classic will be released. The unlocking will be based on different phases that will also be used for the PvE part. Content will come in these phases:
- Phase 1: At launch, PvP is only available in the open world. There are no rewards yet and nothing is saved.
- Phase 2: The Honor system will be activated, including dishonorable kills. Along with this come the rewards for reaching the different ranks.
- Phase 3: Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch will be released as battlegrounds.
- Phase 4: The Arathi Basin will be added as a new battleground.
- Phase 5: No new updates.
- Phase 6: The PvP objectives in the open world will be unlocked for Silithus and the Eastern Plaguelands.
The timing between the phases is still unknown. Blizzard will decide that later and will base it on the community’s playstyle.
If you want rank 14, you need vacation: This confirms that Blizzard is not making significant changes to the old PvP system. If you want to reach rank 14, you should prepare for an extremely high amount of farming. Back then, players had to spend several weeks playing PvP for 12 hours or more a day without breaks. Many players sacrificed their vacation, summer break, or even half a semester for this.
Dishonorable kills are also included: From phase 2 onwards, there will be dishonorable kills, also known as “Dishonorable Kills”. These are kills of civilian NPCs, such as quest givers from the opposing faction. These dishonorable kills will cause you to drop quickly in PvP rank.
