It is getting more colorful in World of Warcraft. The brown Orcs from Draenor will join as an allied race!
With Battle for Azeroth there will be some allied races that will join the Horde or the Alliance. But long before Nightborne or Dark Iron Dwarves were in talks about membership in the factions, there was another wish among the player base: brown Orcs.
These were already contemplated at BlizzCon 2017 and confirmed last week by Game Director Ion Hazzikostas in a livestream. Accordingly, players can start at level 120 to “fulfill the requirements to unlock future allied races like the Dark Iron Dwarves or the Orcs from Draenor.”
Brown Orcs are uncorrupted
Brown Orcs are deeply rooted in the history of Warcraft. Originally from the world of Draenor, all Orcs are actually brown. It was only through drinking demon blood that their skin turned green. Gul’dan orchestrated this. Because by consuming demon blood, the Orcs became more bloodthirsty and through this rage, they were easier to control and could be specifically unleashed on enemies – such as the inhabitants of Azeroth.
Only a few Orcs resisted Gul’dan and rejected the demon blood. Most of these Orcs still live on Draenor today and are brown.
In the alternative timeline of Warlords of Draenor, almost all Orcs were spared from demon blood, as Garrosh prevented them from ever coming into contact with the blood.
Which Orcs are specifically involved – those from “Shattered World Draenor” or those from “WoD Draenor” remains uncertain.
Some players also suspect that Blizzard is only offering new skin tones as an additional customization option and that there will be no complete “Allied Race” for this. However, this would be illogical as all Orcs from the starting area would have to lore-wise belong to the corrupted Orcs.
In the end, it remains a matter of “waiting and drinking tea” – the brown Orcs will come one way or another.
