A spell causes unpleasant matches in Plunderstorm from World of Warcraft. Blizzard is acknowledging this and implementing massive nerfs.
In the retail version of World of Warcraft, there is currently some “filler content.” Until the release of Patch 11.1 Lorenhalt, players can roam in the Plunderstorm mode and earn tons of new cosmetic rewards.
This time, there are some new abilities that were not present in the first version of the mode. A speed aura is included, as well as a teleport spell, and a ranged spell with a hyper range of 80 meters. That particular spell caused issues – and has now been massively nerfed.
What was the big problem? Especially the ability Celestial Barrage was quite a problem. This spell was essentially the “jack of all trades” of abilities and could do everything:
- The damage is very high.
- The range is greater than any other spell.
- The effect moves extremely fast.
- While casting, the character hovers and is unreachable for most effects.
This made Celestial Barrage not only good for simply taking out two fighting opponents from a distance but also perfectly suited as an emergency button. There was just too much that this spell could accomplish.
What has changed? With a hotfix, Blizzard made the following changes to the Plunderstorm mode:
- The firing speed of Celestial Barrage is 25% slower.
- The radius of Celestial Barrage is 33% smaller.
- The original flight distance of the caster of Celestial Barrage is drastically reduced.
- The bounce range of Celestial Barrage is drastically reduced.
- The delay until Breezefeather summons occurs when using Breezefeather has been reduced by 60%.
The active aura of Aura of the Zealot now also remains for a few moments after leaving the area of the consecration.
Cortyn says: Most of the new abilities are interesting and support certain play styles in Plunderstorm, but a Celestial Barrage could almost never be ignored. Therefore, the nerfs were only appropriate so that builds that focus more on melee could also stand a chance. The nerfs should ensure that the event remains attractive for the remaining four weeks and that there is more fairness within the games. It should now occur much less frequently that one is suddenly eliminated from “out of nowhere Barrage.”
Meanwhile, there are many discussions about the endgame in the normal WoW version. Especially in Mythic+, there are currently some issues that are particularly evident among the best players in the world. Because 88% of all pro tanks play a specific class.
