WoW: Shadowlands is not far away anymore. But no one should buy the last expansion, Battle for Azeroth. We explain why.
The current WoW expansion Battle for Azeroth is in its final stages. While players are still benefiting from a powerful reputation buff, most are already preparing for Shadowlands. With all the talk about the new expansion, some players are returning to WoW after a long break or want to take a look. But beware – no one should buy the current expansion, Battle for Azeroth.
What’s going on? On October 14, the pre-patch for World of Warcraft will be released, which is the big patch 9.0. It brings numerous changes, such as the level squish, the new starting area, and extensive character customization.
From that point onward, it will no longer be necessary to purchase the current expansion “Battle for Azeroth” separately. It will simply be included in the normal WoW subscription. Blizzard announced this through official news.
Anyone who buys the game now is essentially throwing away €45, as the game will essentially be free from next Wednesday.
One should soon think about buying a version of Shadowlands …
Is the purchase still worth it? It depends. Battle for Azeroth still includes a character boost to level 110 and the digital Deluxe Edition has some cosmetic bonuses.
However, with patch 9.0, leveling a character will happen in just a few hours, so buying it solely for the character boost probably isn’t worth it anymore. It’s better to just wait for the patch and then level a fresh character over the course of two to three evenings – for example, on the new starting island. But the decision ultimately has to be made by each individual.
If you want to “recruit” friends to World of Warcraft, be sure to share this info with them – otherwise, it would be money thrown away.
