World of Warcraft currently has a special appeal: In WoW Classic, the hardcore servers are running. Who dies here loses their character and thus the result of hours of their life. Hard to believe, but players even risk life-and-death duels.
What is the appeal of these duels?
- In WoW, duels usually have no consequences: Who loses stands up again and loses nothing, maybe just a bit of pride.
- A duel on a hardcore server ends with the permanent death of a character. These duels are called Mak’gora.
- Such a duel took place recently between the Twitch streamer “Xaryu”, who plays a warrior, and a mage.
Warrior has hardly a chance against the Mage
The special thing about the duel was: Normally, a warrior should have hardly any chance against a mage. The mage has all the advantages on his side, can blink away, freeze and slow the warrior, and gain additional time with an ice block.
Both players have clear intentions:
- The mage wants to stay as far away from the warrior as possible and constantly control him in some way, turning him into a sheep, slowing him down, freezing him in place.
- On the other hand, the warrior only wants to get to the mage, charge at him, interrupt his spells, and slit his throat.
What is special about the duel? Both players risk their level-57 character here and actually, from the initial position, the warrior from whose perspective we see the duel should be hopeless.
However, under the frenetic cheers of the fans in the Twitch chat, the streamer actually manages to win, and the joy is great.
He just screams at the end: “What did I just do? I did it. I defeated a mage.”
Xaryu belongs to the guild “Onlyfangs” on Ragnaros:
