World of Warcraft has rendered 5 of the rarest mounts nearly worthless. You can now easily obtain them, as the drop chance has been massively increased.
In World of Warcraft, the rarest mounts are often highly sought after. However, due to a bug, 5 of the rarest WoW mounts are losing their rarity. Indirectly, this is due to the Dracthyr, who had an unfair advantage that Blizzard is now simply extending to all characters.
What was the problem? For several hours, Dracthyr Callers, the new race from Dragonflight, have been roaming in World of Warcraft. Since they can level up to 60 very quickly and many players are fed up with Shadowlands, many Dracthyr have sought other tasks. They farm old raids for transmog or collect mounts.
However, this led to a pretty devastating bug. Many of the old world bosses could not drop normal loot for Dracthyr, with one exception: their super-rare mounts.
This resulted in Dracthyr Callers having the specific mount as the only possible loot from many of these world bosses. They thus had a drastically increased chance of obtaining this mount, making the drop virtually guaranteed. For comparison: Normally, most of these mounts have a drop chance of well under 1%.
What has Blizzard changed now? Blizzard fixed the problem within a few hours, but the damage was already done. Many Dracthyr players now own the super-rare mounts. Thus, those who exploited the bug early could enrich themselves with the fancy mounts.
Accordingly, the complaints in the official forum were loud, claiming that this was unfair and that the players should have the mounts taken away.
However, Blizzard chose a different path:
The drop chance of the mounts has now been massively increased for all characters. Thus, the chance that you will get the desired mount on the next kill of a world boss has significantly risen.
The corresponding rarity of the mounts is thus drastically decreasing and is unlikely to be a symbol of prestige in the future.
Which mounts are affected? A total of 5 very rare mounts from old world bosses are affected. They are:
- Reins of the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent from Sha of Anger (Pandaria, Kun-Lai Summit)
- Saddle of the Son of Galleon from Galleon (Pandaria, Valley of the Four Winds)
- Reins of the Cobalt Blue Primal Terrorhorn from Oondasta (Pandaria, Isle of Giants)
- Reins of the Thunderous Cobalt Cloud Serpent from Nalak (Pandaria, Isle of Thunder)
- Sunhawk of the Spires of Rukhmar (Warlords of Draenor, Spires of Arak)

If you want to secure these fancy mounts, be sure to check out the relevant world bosses in the next few days. At level 60, you can easily defeat them solo. But be careful, you might have to wait a long time for the respawn – as others will also want to secure these mounts now.
