Dalaran is the new capital in WoW WotLK Classic and many players want to go there. We show you everything about portals and how you can travel there repeatedly while leveling, without placing a hearthstone in Dalaran.
What is Dalaran? The flying city above the Crystalsong Forest in Northrend is an important meeting point in WotLK Classic. There are trainers for various professions, large bank buildings, and portals to the capitals of the Horde and Alliance. There you can sign up for battlegrounds and arenas and spend hours fishing coins from a wishing well.
No wonder that with this variety, everyone wants to travel to Dalaran. In this article, we show you the different ways to travel to Dalaran in overview.
Magician Portal – A very easy way
How does it work? As a magician, you can learn the spell Portal: Dalaran starting at level 74. This creates a portal that allows group members to travel to Dalaran.
If you are not a magician yourself, you can ask one in the capitals or at other locations. They can invite you to a group so that their portal becomes usable for you. But be ready with a tip for this service, which you pay before entering.
Your first visit – What to do? If you arrived in Dalaran with the help of a magician, you can now place your hearthstone in one of the inns.
- Open the map – You will find Krasus Landing. Get the flight point
- Now use the portal to get to the starting area. Portal to Orgrimmar or Stormwind if you want to go to the Borean Tundra. Portal to Undercity or Ironforge if you want to start in the Howling Fjord. How to reach the starting areas of Northrend with zeppelins and ships
- Then, upon arriving in the Fjord or the Tundra, head to a flight master soon. Kamagua in the Fjord and Unu’pe in the Tundra are suitable places. Take the flight points and go to one of these places to board the turtle ship. It will take you to the harbor Moa’ki in the Dragonblight. Also speak to the flight master there.
- Now you have a fixed flight connection to Dalaran.
Quest: The Magical Kingdom of Dalaran (do not turn in!)
What kind of quest is this? Starting at level 74, you will receive the quest “The Magical Kingdom of Dalaran”. The quest involves speaking with an NPC who will teleport you to Dalaran. Various NPCs in Northrend distribute the quest and teleport you. These are:

This is the trick: When you talk to one of the NPCs, they teleport you to Dalaran. However, if you do not turn in this quest there, you can always receive a teleportation to Dalaran from one of the NPCs listed above. It is worth not turning in this quest to travel repeatedly with the help of the NPCs to Dalaran during leveling.
Flying to Dalaran with the flying mount
How does it work? To be able to fly in Dalaran, you need cold weather flying. It costs you 1,000 gold. With this, you can simply fly to Dalaran with your flying mount and land there. Dalaran does not have an “entrance” in that sense. You can simply fly there from above and land.
