The military MMO World of Warships (WoWS) will officially launch in two weeks. The free-to-play game is currently still in open beta.
It’s always a bit strange with free-to-play titles in an open beta when you then say: “Now we are officially out.” Because nothing really changes for the players: The game doesn’t need to be purchased.
A competitor of World of Warships, for example, War Thunder, is still in an open beta phase even after years. Other free-to-play games like Marvel Heroes regret later on having skipped the beta phase and launched right away. In a beta, press and fans tend to be more forgiving, it is said.
World of Warships will officially launch on September 17. Wargaming is confident that the launch will be successful. There have been two million players in the beta since early July. The average player spent three hours daily on WoWS.
World of Warships is also well-equipped: with 80 ships, it will launch, with more on the way.
By the way, patch 0.4.1 for the open beta was released today, which is explained in this video and it has a … yes, a certain charm.
If you want to join the fleet of captains, here is the download of the free client on the official World of Warships website.
