In World of Warcraft, a hotfix addresses heirlooms. They are now intended to help players even after level 90.
Some players upgraded the redesigned heirlooms to level 100, invested a lot of gold into them, and then realized that they were not needed because loot and quest items were significantly better. Blizzard has registered this and wants to address it with a hotfix.
Soon, items from levels 91-100 are expected to be considerably more useful. While it is not ruled out that occasionally there will still be a better item at that level, this should happen much less frequently than before. The exact values for how much better the heirlooms will become are still unknown at the moment.
