In World of Tanks, the M6A2E1 was once only available to pre-order customers and has not been available since. Now, the legendary “Mutant” is set to return as a premium tank.
The M6A2E1 is a heavy American tank tier 8 that is extremely rarely encountered on the battlefields of World of Tanks. This is because the “Mutant” was only available to pre-order customers at the release of World of Tanks 6 years ago. Since then, the powerful tank has not been available in the PC version, and even Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi once noted that the M6A2E1 would probably never return.
However, “never again” should not be taken too seriously, as out of nowhere, the M6A2E1 suddenly appeared with selected YouTubers and can even be purchased for an extremely limited time.
It really exists – The M6A2E1 as a premium tank in the shop
The M6A2E1 is often referred to as the “Mutant,” and that name is well-deserved. It is monstrously large and has an enormous front armor! 191mm American steel at a perverse angle! This should allow the effective armor against frontal hits to rise effortlessly to 230 to 260mm. The turret armor is similarly tough at 229mm. Just forget about damaging the M6A2E1 from the front without special ammunition!
However, the situation looks different from the side, as the thick giant only has a measly 66mm. Any tiny tank can penetrate that! The cannon of the Mutant is 105mm with a penetration of 198, nothing special, so you may have to rely on APCR ammunition with 245mm penetration.
What rocks hard: The cannon has a depression angle of 10° down and 20° up. Ideal for hilly terrain!
M6A2E1 – Premium tank with minor weaknesses
In addition to its weak side armor, the low speed of a maximum of 29 km/h and the high turning radius are additional problems for the M6A2E1. Artillery is therefore a serious opponent, as are packs of small tanks that can flank him and exploit his weak side. However, if the M6A2E1 is well protected on the flanks and can face its front to the enemy, it is virtually invulnerable.
As a premium vehicle, the M6A2E1 generates a lot of credits and is relatively cheap to repair. Therefore, the strong M6A2E1 is ideal for fans of heavy tanks who want to farm optimal credits for their gameplay. Due to the special matchmaking, the M6A2E1 can only face tanks of tiers 8 and 9. It is ideally suited for tier 8, but some enemy tanks could pose serious difficulties for it at tier 9.

If you’re now totally excited and shouting “Shut up and take my money” at the screen, you’ll need good timing. The M6A2E1 is intended to remain rare, so it is ONLY available on April 1st (this is definitely not a joke!) for 24 hours in the Wargaming shop for the PC version of World of Tanks. Whether and when it will come back is unknown.
