World of Tanks is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the tank in September with particularly fun events. The Mark I tanks and small armored cars will be used.
On September 15, 1916, Mark I tanks first rumbled across a battlefield. It was the infamous Battle of the Somme, and although the use of tanks was not decisive for the war, this date marks the world’s first use of a tank in battle. This anniversary is therefore extensively celebrated in Wargaming’s tank MMO.

Tank Convoy, Deathmatch and 7vs7
Starting September 15, new game modes will be available in World of Tanks, featuring the Mark I tank. In the first game mode “Escort Protection,” a single AI-controlled MK I rumbles across the battlefield. We and our team drive small armored cars with cannons and must either defend the MK I and escort it to the target area or intercept it. The MK I has limited ammunition, and if we don’t resupply it, it will soon be defenseless. This game mode is only available in the PC version of World of Tanks.
In another game mode called “Last Tank Standing,” which is available only for console tank drivers, we all play as a Mark I and compete in a chaotic “free-for-all deathmatch” against all other players. The hefty tank has been slightly modified and can shoot forward, contrary to its historical counterpart. So fun chaos with rumbling boxes is guaranteed. Finally, the MK I also appears in the mobile version of WoT, World of Tanks Blitz. In a 7vs7 mode, two teams of MK I tanks fight against each other.
