World of Tanks draws attention, even from the Russian army. It is suspected that today’s players will be the soldiers of tomorrow.

Once again, World of Tanks is causing a stir. Unlike the usual outcries about a too realistic war simulation, this time it is about the future of real battles. The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Olegovich Rogozin stated on Twitter his unusual view: “We don’t need tank drivers, but the players of World of Tanks.” The reaction came after an announcement by a Russian arms company to produce unmanned tanks in the future.
In the past, Rogozin had made such statements. In his opinion, the warfare of the future belongs to the “glasses-wearing nerds, who would defeat the trained athletes fighting on a lower technological level.”
What do you think about it? Does it sound too outlandish? Or could a good player become the tank drivers of the future with a little training? I personally find the thought a bit frightening, because it would be the first time the media could truly say: “He has already practiced killing in a computer game” – and they would be right.
