Which feature is coming with Android 15? According to reports, Android will receive a new function that allows users to manually set a battery charge limit of 80%. The feature is said to be called “Charge Optimization”.
Once the “Charge Optimization” feature is activated, users will have the option to choose between the “Adaptive Charging” mode and the new “Limit to 80%” mode.
When will the feature come? With the update to Android 15, Google’s Pixel models are expected to be the first phones to receive this feature. A specific date is not yet known.
Apple has offered charging function since iOS 13
What does this have to do with Apple? Apple has been offering so-called “optimized charging” on its iPhone since iOS 13. iOS 13 was officially released on September 19, 2019, which was 5 years ago. Therefore, every somewhat modern iPhone supports this function. In 2024, iOS 18 will be released with many new features.
Apple also offers an additional function that “learns” how you use your iPhone. Your phone will only charge above 80% when you really need the capacity. You won’t find such a function on Android (yet).
On the iPhone, you can additionally configure how much percentage your phone should charge. You can set the limit to 80%, 85%, 90%, or 95%.
