A Japanese speedrunner takes down one of the currently most difficult monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds with an inconspicuous weapon from the bottom of the tier list – and only needs a few minutes for it. His build shows how he managed to do it.
What has the speedrunner achieved? The Japanese speedrunner ピエタ【モンハンワイルズ】shares his successful run against the high-ranked Zoh Shia via YouTube. In his video, you can see how he takes down the final boss in under 4 minutes.
Many players usually need time between 10 and 30 minutes for the same fight, depending on build and personal skill level, which is why the “new” Zoh Shia is currently considered one of the toughest challenges.
He uses the insect glaive, which is currently sitting at the lower end of the tier list and is therefore often underestimated. With his build, he demonstrates how to effectively fight Zoh Shia with it.
Quick Kill with the Insect Glaive
YouTuber and speedrunner ピエタ【モンハンワイルズ】 regularly shares various runs using the insect glaive on his YouTube profile, proving that the weapon is not as bad as the tier list suggests.
In his latest YouTube video, he shows how he defeats the final boss Zoh Shia in just 03:59:75 minutes. For this, he uses the following build:

During the fight, he focuses primarily on breaking the crystals on Zoh Shia’s body and causing wounds. Additionally, he capitalizes on every opportunity to target the monster’s weak points for spontaneous maximization of a wound.
The crystals that Zoh Shia creates are quickly dispatched with the slinger, allowing him to stand a good distance away when the boss unleashes his extremely strong attack. Once Zoh Shia’s transformation begins and his body parts turn black, the speedrunner focuses on dealing damage there. He also uses thunder capsules to regularly stun him.
In this way, he takes him down in under 4 minutes despite or because of an underestimated weapon.
Another Japanese speedrunner recently achieved something similar – also with the insect glaive. He faced the hardest monster at the time, the tempered Arkveld.
