When will there be new PS5 consoles? Sony’s CEO especially gave hope to PlayStation fans who had previously gone empty-handed. He said:
You can be sure that we are really working hard to bring significant supplies [of the PS5] to market before and after Christmas.

So those who have been left empty-handed so far may still be able to get a console. Because there are supposed to be new devices both before and after Christmas. However, he did not mention any numbers or a date.
Sony was surprised by strong PS5 pre-orders
This is how the PS5 sales went: Ryan also mentioned in the conversation that they were surprised at how extensive the pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 had been. After the first wave of pre-orders, Sony apologized that the sales could have gone better. And in the interview, he explains that he regrets the chaotic situation. He stated:
We are making more PS5 units in this challenging environment than we did PS4 units at launch. If people couldn’t get one at launch, we are very sorry and we apologize for that.

The situation is completely different: Due to the Corona pandemic, everything went completely differently than planned this year: “The most extraordinary thing is that all of this [the PS5 release] happened in 2020. The only thing I’ve learned is that I’ll never do something like this again during a pandemic.”
In the event of another pandemic, Ryan would not want to repeat such a release.
