High-quality loot is important in Apex Legends for survival and winning a match. Looting quickly is actually an advantage. However, players now want the looting of loot boxes from fallen enemies to be delayed.
This is the delay players are asking for: When a player is downed and then fully defeated, they leave behind a loot box. Allies can retrieve their banner from it, and all players can take their strong weapons.
Although looting should actually be quick, so that one can immediately jump into the next fight, many players are now demanding that this is delayed. They want the loot window to not open immediately, but to be delayed – at least under certain circumstances.
Looting slower in Apex Legends – but why?
This is the reason for the request: The idea behind it is that the loot window automatically closes as soon as you are shot while looting. This should help in reacting immediately to approaching enemies and not be caught off guard fatally.
For many players, it seems that they want to close the window automatically as soon as they are under fire. However, since it is already closed, they open it again. It then closes again due to the gunfire, and instead of closing it, they open it once more, and so on:
Every time I hear gunfire, I automatically leave the loot window. But since the automatic exit is activated at the same time, I find myself back in the loot window. This repeats until I am dead.

Some players are seemingly hit even harder: They do not use the action button, but something like Escape on PC. Thus, they break off the loot process, but automatically land in the menu if the window is already closed. Thus, they stand around without the possibility to move and are easy prey. Console players have long complained about the controls.
This is how the feature is supposed to be introduced: Since the problem does not affect all players, a reddit post with over 1,900 upvotes is calling for an option to turn off the automatic closing. This has also received significant support:
