With the upcoming release of Elden Ring, we at MeinMMO want to know from you: Which of the 10 classes will you play on launch and why?
On February 25, Elden Ring, the latest game from the creators of Dark Souls, FromSoftware, will be released. At launch, players will have to choose one of ten classes.
Each class has its own short backstory, which we already know thanks to leaks from the Elden Ring strategy guide:
- Vagabond: A knight in exile. The Vagabond is primarily suited for melee combat. If you want to use spells or summons, you only need to invest a few points. It is a kind of all-round class with medium armor.
- Warrior: A warrior from a nomadic tribe. This is a fast melee class with two curved swords that relies primarily on agility.
- Hero: This class fully relies on strength and is equipped with a battle axe. If you later use heavy weapons that focus on the strength attribute, this is your choice.
- Bandit: The Bandit has the best prerequisites for a fast melee class but is also very well suited for ranged combat with bows. Due to its speed, it is also good for ambush attacks.
- Astrologer: This is the wizard class, equipped with some basic spells and a staff. You can combine this with any weapons as long as your attributes match.
- Prophet: The Prophet relies on a spear and summons. These are the wonders known from Dark Souls. However, they now also include several fire spells that were previously known as pyromancy. You need a holy seal to use summons.
- Samurai: A classic samurai that could also come from Sekiro or Ghost of Tsushima. He is equipped with a katana and a bow, and he wears a classic samurai armor. He is an all-round class that focuses primarily on physical attacks.
- Prisoner: The Prisoner wears a strange, round iron mask. He relies on a rapier and spells, making him a sort of hybrid class.
- Confessor: The Confessor is equipped with a sword and shield. He also has some summons and a dark cloak that emphasizes his role as a church spy.
- Wretch: This class is completely balanced in its attributes but probably has the worst equipment. He is equipped with a flimsy wooden shield and a wooden one-handed club.

These are the classes of Elden Ring: Each class has its own equipment set and different weapons. Additionally, there is different attribute distribution.
For example, the Bandit has a higher strength value than the Astrologer. The latter has a higher wisdom value because he relies on spells.
One more note: The choice of your class in Elden Ring is not as decisive as you might know it from MMORPGs or other class-based games.
They are merely a kind of starter package with a specific attribute distribution and basic equipment. So the choice of your class is rather secondary.
Some classes may be better suited for your playstyle, but ultimately you can create your own path from any class through looting and leveling up. Therefore, it is more a matter of taste than a gameplay-defining choice.
