The user interface of Where Winds Meet is nested and confusing. Finding something in the many windows is difficult even after many hours of gameplay. MeinMMO presents the most important menus for your hero.
Why this guide? Where Winds Meet does a lot right and well, but the user interface is not one of them. The menus are heavily nested, one window leads to another. Without the red dots that guide you to the next reward, much would remain undiscovered in the depths of the user interface.
But it’s not just about collecting each individual Echojade. After four or five clicks, essential systems await that allow you to enhance your character’s strength. Especially on higher difficulty levels, it’s fatal if you don’t make use of these just because they get lost in the menu jungle.
Therefore, we will present the most important menus where you can noticeably increase the combat power of your martial arts maestro. If you have more tips like this, feel free to share them in the comments!
Development – the most important menu for your character
How do I improve my character? Open the main menu of the game (on PC via the “ESC” key) and click on the tile Development (shortcut “H”). A window will open with the 3 tabs “Skills”, “Equipment”, and “Talents”.
On page 1, the skills, you will find 3 essential areas:
- Martial Arts: Here you choose your two active weapons (and the martial arts associated with them).
- Inner Path: Here you will find your passive enhancements; you can activate up to 4 bonuses.
- Mystical Abilities: Through this point, you can access the active martial arts skills that you can use independently of your weapons – up to 8 skills can be assigned. Through the second tab “General,” you will find additional abilities such as “Wind Perception” or the skill “Still Waters,” which allows you to significantly slow down time when shooting arrows. The third tab “Movement” finally offers you the Lightness skills for flying, wall running, or diving.
Almost everything can be upgraded: Weapons, passive enhancements, and active martial arts skills can be leveled up. This also applies to some general abilities. Select one of the weapons, mystical abilities, or passive enhancements and press “F” (or bottom right on “Improve” or “Breakthrough”) to perform upgrades.
This way, you can see whether you can already perform an upgrade or which resources you still lack. Another click on the resource will reveal where you can farm or buy these.
Where do I unlock what? Where Winds Meet not only reveals in detail where you can find the resources needed for upgrades, but through a few clicks, you can also learn what you need to do to unlock any missing weapons, mystical abilities, etc.
Select a still locked weapon and click “Gain” (shortcut “Space”) at the bottom right of the window. In the “Inner Path” window, it is called “Understanding Inner Way,” but works the same otherwise. For the active martial arts skills, it is the “Learning Method.” Important: Select the skill and then click “Space” or use the forwarding option at the bottom right of the window.
Which weapons, mystical abilities, and passive enhancements should you acquire for a strong beginner build, you can find in this guide:
How to optimize your equipment
The second of the above-mentioned tabs leads you to “Equipment.” Here you can first see your currently equipped gear. Note that the individual equipment slots for both weapons, the disc, charms, helmet, greaves, bracers, and armor can be upgraded. All items you use in these slots benefit from these enhancements.
How do I upgrade the equipment slots? Click either on “Improve” in the “Equipment” tab or click on an equipment piece and then switch from there to “Improve” (shortcut “R”) in the improvement menu at the bottom right.
Can I also improve the equipment pieces themselves? During the leveling phase you will unlock the tuning of items. After that, you will find the option that shares the same name when you select a weapon in the “Equipment” tab, specifically at the bottom right (“Tuning”, shortcut “Space”).
Through tuning, you invest tuning stones and coins in upgrading an item to receive random bonuses, for example, for physical defense or your critical hit rate.
What about the Arsenal? The third feature of the equipment area is unlocked between levels 50 and 55. It allows you to create a collection of unnecessary equipment pieces to boost your minimal and physical damage.
Tip: The Arsenal starts at level 41. So try to avoid breaking down equipment at that level or higher, so you can fill your collection promptly upon unlocking.
Talents in Where Winds Meet
In the third tab Talents, you can invest your earned talent points to unlock basic combat maneuvers such as heavy attacks, as well as additional slots for mystical abilities or simple attribute bonuses.
Anyone who regularly visits the PvP arena or fights bosses in Hero’s Path or Sword Trial modes will also receive talent points for these areas that you can invest in the Talents section to make your hero stronger for the respective variants of the game.
Determining consumables – here’s how
Where can I find my healing potions? For this, we leave the development menu and switch to the bag (shortcut “B”). There you will find in the “Develop” tab the “Quick Access” area, where you can assign different items for the following categories:
- Medicine (useable healing items in combat)
- Divinecraft (consumable items for additional elemental effects such as fire, water, or poison)
- Special item (fishing rod or firework rockets)
Tip: Through the “Settings” menu, you can select in the “Item Settings” category that a new item type is automatically assigned to the medicine area when your selected item is fully spent.
Special menus found at NPCs
Unfortunately, not all important menus that affect character strength are readily available at the push of a button. In Qinghe and Kaifend, you unlock a curiosity dealer where you can submit so-called curiosities to unlock various attribute bonuses or new movement skills.
The first of the dealers, Qi Sheng, was already introduced to you in the beginner guide with 15 tips for starting in Where Winds Meet. You can find him in the starting area Green Wilderness, near the wanderer where you uncover the first part of the world map.
His counterpart Bai Ji is unlocked much later, in the northwest of the city of Kaifeng, specifically near the outpost “Palace of Highest Unity.” Bai Ji offers you a completely different curiosities tree than Qi Sheng, so you should look for collectable insects, flowers, nests, frogs, and more in both regions.
These were the most important menus you should know for strengthening your character in Where Winds Meet.
