Cries in the Distance is a side quest in Where Winds Meet, for which you need to solve a puzzle. We will show you how to complete it and how to solve the puzzle.
In the quest Cries in the Distance, you will meet your old friend Feng, who is trapped behind a rock. If you free him, you can solve a puzzle together and gain valuable treasures. Here’s how to solve the Yin-Yang puzzle: When you stand before the statues and the Yin-Yang disc, you can quickly and easily solve it as follows:
- Rotate the two statues in the green border in the image so that the dragon faces inward
- Then rotate the Yin-Yang disc once clockwise
- Then rotate the statue with the blue border right next to Feng so that the dragon faces outward
- Then walk to the statue across from it and rotate this one outward as well
- Rotate the disc once more clockwise to solve the puzzle
This is why it is solved this way: Feng will give you some clues on how to solve the puzzle once you have freed him. He explains that the fire and water statues should look away from each other and the earth and air statues should look at each other.
He also mentions that fire and water move together and air and earth move independently. This means that when you rotate one of the two statues, the other will also rotate simultaneously.
In order to move them independently, the Yin-Yang symbol must be adjusted so that the two central circles are no longer aligned with the two statues. Then they can move independently, and the other two can no longer be rotated separately.
Cries in the Distance – Start and complete the quest
Where does the quest start? To start Cries in the Distance, you need to go to Moonveil Mountain. In close proximity to the boundary stone teleport, you will also hear a voice calling for help. This will start the quest, and you can follow it in the quest log.
Follow the voice towards the cliff and look down for a ledge. Let yourself fall down and take a chest on the left if you don’t have it yet. On the ledge, you will then find a cave entrance with a trapdoor from which the voice is coming.
Climb down and you will enter a cave with a Yin-Yang symbol on the ground and some statues. Here the puzzle awaits you, but first you need to free your buddy Feng, who is trapped behind a rock.
Do this by looking for vines that you can burn with fire arrows. Behind them, you will find a platform that you can stand on, thus freeing Feng. He will then give you a hint on how to solve the Yin-Yang puzzle.
What happens after the puzzle? Once you have solved the puzzle, a shaft in the ground opens and you can climb down. There you will have to face a powerful bear, for which you should definitely bring the Tai Chi ability.
To resolve the situation, you need to destroy 3 piles of stones where you throw the bear with the ability. Once you’ve successfully hit all 3, the bear disappears, and you can secure the treasures behind it. Then speak with Feng once more and claim your reward.
