Sony has unveiled the new controller for their upcoming next-gen console PlayStation 5. It is called DualSense and is predominantly white. Instantaneously, fans have suggested possible options for black versions of the controller.
What’s happening? In the official PlayStation blog, Sony presented the new controller for PlayStation 5 for the first time. The DualSense builds on its predecessor DualShock 4 but also brings new features. These include:
- Haptic feedback
- Built-in microphone
- Adaptive trigger buttons

What does the controller look like in black? One of the major differences from previous Sony controllers is also in the appearance of the DualSense. The standard design is for the first time two-tone with white as the dominant color.
After three generations of black controllers, this change was not well-received by all fans, and voices calling for a black color variation were immediately heard.
Various users on Twitter responded directly to this request and quickly designed possible looks for what the PS5 controller could look like in black:

While the general color direction of black controllers is the same, the various designs place varying emphasis on the colors of the buttons.
On Twitter, the various black versions of the controller were well received, and the tweets with the images garnered more than 3,000 likes at times.

The Twitch streamer and designer Dorm even created various designs in the style of his favorite PlayStation franchises, which were very well received by fans:

In general, it is immediately noticeable that there is great interest among fans for different color variations. After the PS4 controller has been available in many different colors, it is very likely that the new DualSense will receive more official designs over time.
