The BlizzCon 2019 is just around the corner, bringing together many Blizzard fans. But what are you actually waiting for? What do you hope for from BlizzCon?
In just a few hours, it will finally happen, as BlizzCon 2019 kicks off on November 1st and apparently has many new announcements in store. After all, many leaks have already given hints that a lot of games will be presented. We have a complete list of all previous leaks and the most likely announcements here for you.
Overall, fans of all genres are likely to see one or another treat in 2019. Here’s just a small overview of things that are considered practically confirmed:
- MMO fans are looking forward to a new WoW expansion
- Hack’n’slash enthusiasts will get a glimpse of Diablo IV
- Strategy players will receive Warcraft III: Reforged in a few weeks
- Shooter fans will be presented with Overwatch 2
- CCG players can expect a new Hearthstone addon
- Mobile users might receive info about Diablo: Immortal
What will be exciting? Besides that, it might be possible that there will be more announcements and innovations that have not yet been leaked. Therefore, one or another surprise is likely, especially since J. Allen Brack called BlizzCon 2019 the “best BlizzCon yet” and this statement will likely be evaluated. After all, last year was more of a disaster because they did not hit the nerve of the fans. This was closely followed by many negative reports about layoffs.
However, this year it will not only be about games, as due to the Blitzchung affair, there are also many protests planned. Some might also be curious about how this situation will develop.
What our editorial team is looking forward to
We have already gathered a few opinions from the editorial team for you:
Cortyn says: I am super excited for the reveal of the new WoW expansion because I am really enjoying the story at the moment. I can only hope that we will get a bit more detail about the “end” of N’Zoth, whom I don’t want to see defeated so quickly. But also the fact that the Lich King is probably playing a significant role again makes me very happy. After all, I still have fond memories of the Death Knight campaign from Legion, which was pretty dark…
Patrick says: At BlizzCon 2019, I have the highest expectations for the Diablo franchise. Above all, of course, the announcement of Diablo 4. I am most curious about what the first videos will look like and whether there will be gameplay to admire. An early release date would also be very cool. After the many leaks about Diablo 4, I am excited about which dark adventure we will plunge into next.
Schuhmann (who doesn’t know what “4-5 lines of text” means) says: I am most looking forward to Diablo 4. I am curious about how they will approach it and whether Blizzard will signal what new ideas they intend to bring in. The whole “more social” elements thing is something everyone is doing right now. That would just be Diablo 3 with a few new ideas: I want to know: Is the world destructible? Have they found a new twist in gameplay? How will Blizzard lead hacking and slashing into a new era and present it to a new generation of players?
For years, I have been expecting that Blizzard will make a mobile game in the Warcraft universe, a hero-collecting RPG. In Asia, such games are incredibly successful: You need a strong universe with heroes and villains that players have known for years, which they want to own and develop. In Asia, the Marvel universe or obscure anime worlds serve as backgrounds for such games. Blizzard has exactly such a universe with Warcraft, which they have been building for decades.
In my opinion, Blizzard has a license to print money here. I am sure Activision knows this too and has been working on it for at least 3 years to ensure that Blizzard finally makes such a game. I wonder if it is coming now and how they will manage to sell it without a shitstorm that is even bigger than that for Diablo Immortal. Because in Asia, these games clearly rely on Pay2Win concepts. That would likely not work for Blizzard here – unless everyone is so excited about Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 that they can push a “WoW Mobile” through the door.
Leya says: I am particularly curious about how and whether Blizzard will respond to the “Hearthstone-Hong Kong” affair. Fans have already announced peaceful protests during the event weeks ago. It will not be easy to host a fan festival while the trust of the fans is crumbling.
But now let’s get to you! Tell us what you are particularly looking forward to at BlizzCon 2019. What are your hopes and wishes? Which game should be released as soon as possible and what titles do you want more information about?
