A leaker for Call of Duty says there might not be a Warzone 3 if an important update doesn’t achieve the expected success.
What kind of leak is this? “TheGhostOfHope” is a known leaker for Call of Duty who has often been correct with his predictions in the past and has over 80,700 followers on X.
In a new post from March 3, the leaker reveals on X.com (formerly Twitter) that the upcoming Call of Duty in 2026 – which he calls Modern Warfare IV – might not bring integration for Warzone. However, he also states that the battle royale shooter still has a chance.
What does this have to do with the end of Warzone? If there really isn’t going to be an update to Warzone 3 in 2026, it would likely lead to the death of the shooter since a new CoD always brings new weapons, maps, and gadgets to Warzone. Without new content, more and more players would likely turn their backs on the shooter – and player numbers are currently at record low levels on Steam anyway (via SteamCharts).
A legendary map is supposed to make a difference
What is the last chance for Warzone? According to the leaker, there will be no Warzone 3 “if Verdansk fails to retain current/back returning players.”
Verdansk is the original map of Warzone, which is where the battle royale shooter launched in 2020. To this day, Verdansk is considered the most popular map of the game and many players are looking forward to the announced return of the iconic map.
While there is not yet a specific date for the return of Verdansk, it was said even before the release of Black Ops 6 that the map would be back in Warzone in spring 2025. Some fans expect that it might finally happen with Season 3. It is set to start on April 3 (Call of Duty via X.com).
The second season is currently running in Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops. An update for the midpoint of the season was released on February 20. You can read about what the update has in store for you on meinMMO: CoD Black Ops 6 & Warzone: Season 2 Reloaded has launched – All info in 3 minutes
