One of the best guilds in the world in World of Warcraft comes from Germany. Aversion is consistently among the top 10 in the world. MeinMMO was able to ask the guild leader and the organization behind it some questions.
For many years now, the German guild Aversion has been actively participating in the raid scene and measuring itself against the best groups in the world. Currently, the guild is in 9th place worldwide (via wowprogress).
In this context, the team competes with well-known names like Liquid, Method, and Echo, which recently achieved the coveted World First Kill on the Jailer. Meanwhile, there is even an e-sports organization behind Aversion:
The vast majority of WoW players will never reach the level of these top guilds, but it also requires hard work. After our interview from 2018, we asked Aversion again: how does the best guild in Germany prepare for new raids?
The answers were provided by the guild leader and the organization itself, Nexxzz. In the conversation, we also chatted a bit about the new raid from patch 9.2 and what WoW may have in store for the future.
“Many raid just for fun”
MeinMMO: Could you introduce yourself briefly? What is your role at Aversion?
Nexxzz: Hello everyone, I am Marco/Nexxzz, and I lead both the guild Aversion and the underlying e-sport organization. I have been leading the guild for 5 years and the organization for 2.
MeinMMO: How do you actually prepare for a raid and a race for the First Kills?
Nexxzz: We raid 1-2 times a week and prepare 4-5 characters per player – our schedule includes 2 Mythic runs per week. Furthermore, we play every PTR test and prepare intensively for the upcoming bosses with the help of these tests.
MeinMMO: How important has Twitch become for you, especially during events like the Race to World First?
Nexxzz: Twitch is of course the means to an end that allows us to present the Race so impressively. However, for the majority of our players, it is not that important, as many raid just for fun and would invest the time without Twitch as well.
12 hours of raiding a day when it gets important
MeinMMO: In 2018 you already told us that you raid for almost 4.5 hours a day. How much time should someone invest today if they want to join you?
Nexxzz: We are now raiding again for 4.5 hours each evening, but we raided significantly more in the first 3 weeks. The first 5 days we were in the raid for an average of 12 hours a day, and in the following days until the 4th ID, we also raided for an average of 6 hours.
MeinMMO: Do you like the current raid? What makes it better or worse than previous ones?
Nexxzz: The raid itself is very good and the bosses are a lot of fun, but the race simply takes too long, and we are currently quite exhausted since we have been raiding every night for 4 weeks and not able to do anything else. A 10-14 day race would be optimal for us.
MeinMMO: Is the difficulty of the bosses appropriate – especially in normal/heroic mode?
Nexxzz: I find the bosses for normal and heroic definitely fine – the only boss that was far too difficult was Anduin. Anduin was simplified about 5 times on heroic and was a good Mythic boss in its original form.
„Shadowlands is a 5/10“
MeinMMO: What is your assessment of Shadowlands in general as an expansion?
Nexxzz: Shadowlands had a lot of potential, and the raids themselves were good, but some systems were only properly addressed too late. All in all, Shadowlands is a 5/10 for me.
MeinMMO: What do you think: Which expansion will come after Shadowlands?
Nexxzz: Dragonflight 🙂
MeinMMO: Why do most pro guilds actually play Horde?
Nexxzz: Because over time, the majority of the raid community switched to the Horde side due to the racial bonuses. Nowadays these bonuses are irrelevant, but since most friends play on the Horde side, it has settled into that.
MeinMMO: Do you have a valuable tip for casual raids or raid leaders?
Nexxzz: Raiding is a team game and it’s not always about the problems of an individual, but about the big picture!

With the Mausoleum of the First, Shadowlands slowly comes to an end. How exactly it will continue, we will learn on April 19. That is when the new addon will finally be presented.
However, Shadowlands is not over yet. There is still a Season 4 for Mythic dungeons, but no major content update is planned, and thus probably no further raid.
