In Fortnite: Battle Royale is starting Season 10 soon. This gives us a reason to take a closer look at the last seasons and ask you which one you liked the most so far.
Fortnite has now gone through almost 9 seasons and the 10th is just around the corner. So we present to you here all the seasons from the Battle Royale game once again.

Season 1 – The Modest Beginning
This was Season 1: Season 1 began when Fortnite was still a relatively unknown competitor to PUBG and even had some troubles with its developers for a short time. The map looked radically different back then, including the absence of Tilted Towers.
These were the highlights: The game was still brand new and no one had really mastered building. Many players were still cautiously experimenting and trying to figure out the major differences to PUBG.
What was problematic: The map was still very empty, especially the western side of the map was almost undeveloped, as Tilted Towers, Snobby Shores, and Shifty Shafts were missing.
Season 2 – The Rise of the Battle Pass
This was Season 2: With Season 2, Fortnite slowly became more popular and the developers introduced the famous Battle Pass into the game for the first time. Additionally, the map was drastically redesigned and gained the distinctive shape that we now know with Tilted Towers and Co.
These were the highlights: For the first time, Season 2 featured emotes. Additionally, players could work towards a goal with the Battle Pass and even earn V-Bucks in the free version.
What was problematic: Tilted Towers quickly became a problem as it promised good loot, causing a large portion of players to land there and getting eliminated like flies in the first few minutes. This often led to a boring mid-game.
Season 3 – The Golden Age
This was Season 3: In Season 3, Fortnite became very popular and began to slowly dominate the market, displacing competitors like PUBG. The Battle Pass featured 100 levels here for the first time, and players could complete challenges to level up faster.
These were the highlights: Here, the story of Fortnite: Battle Royale began for the first time: Because at the end of the season, a comet was suddenly discovered in the sky, which ultimately became the origin of all future events in Fortnite.
What was problematic: Overall, Season 3 was fine. Only the double shotgun exploit, celebrated by many, annoyed those who regularly fell victim to it. And the great popularity of Tilted Towers remained a problem.
Season 4 – The Story Accelerates
This was Season 4: Here, the meteor crashed into Dusty Divot and significantly changed the map for the first time again. Throughout the season, the superhero theme was expanded and there were strong expectations of a major showdown between villains and heroes.
These were the highlights: Fragments of the comet could be used as “Hop Rocks” and made the gameplay much more mobile. The highlight was, of course, the rocket launch, the first major in-game event in the game.
What was problematic: In this season, the dreaded Drum Gun was introduced for the first time. This led to the “spray meta,” where players ran at their opponents, firing rapidly, hoping to quickly take them down or break their cover.
Season 5 – The Season with the Worlds Crossover
This was Season 5: The start of Season 5 was marked by the largest marketing event Fortnite had seen to date. Under the theme “Worlds Collide,” Durr-Burgers and Loot Llamas appeared in the real world. In the game, a large new desert biome was introduced along with real vehicles and the Dimension Rifts that are still known today.
These were the highlights: With the all-wheel drive car and the rifts, Fortnite became even faster and more dynamic. Additionally, a huge cube appeared at the end of the season in the desert, which then rolled across the map until it sank in Loot Lake at the end of the season.
What was problematic: Some players criticized the vehicles and the rather dull Battle Pass. The Vikings didn’t really play a meaningful role, and the bonus skin was also rather uninteresting.
Season 6 – The Halloween Season
This was Season 6: Here, the mysterious cube re-emerged and began to float with the island in Loot Lake. Throughout the season, it flew around the map, leaving runes and exploding at the end. The theme of the season was horror and Halloween. For the first time, there was also the notorious zombie mode.
These were the highlights: The map changed constantly due to the gigantic, floating island and its actions, and players wondered what would happen next.
What was problematic: At the end, the cube exploded and zombies emerged from its fragments—right in the middle of regular Battle Royale matches! Many players were not pleased, as the zombies were extremely annoying in the late game.
Season 7 – The Christmas Season
This was Season 7: After an iceberg was spotted on the horizon in Season 6, another island collided with the map at the start of Season 7 and significantly expanded the southwest. There, the mountain Polar Peak was revealed over time with a castle. At the end of the season, the Ice King emerged from the castle, launching yet another zombie event.
These were the highlights: For the first time since Season 2, the map was significantly expanded again. The entire region in the southwest was renewed and redesigned. New landmasses were added as well.
What was problematic: Season 7 is still highly controversial, as there were two things that many fans hated: airplanes and the Infinity Blade! Especially the completely overpowered sword drove players to despair.
Season 8 – The Season with the Blinger
This was Season 8: Season 8 had the themes of pirates and treasures. Additionally, a massive volcano emerged at Wailing Woods and a pirate lagoon at Lazy Links. By the end of the season, various locations appeared that needed to be unearthed.
These were the highlights: The end of the season brought the entire Fortnite community together to solve puzzles collaboratively. The end event, in which the proverbial vault was opened, was an absolute novelty.
What was problematic: The infamous Blinger, which still plagues professional tournaments today, was introduced. Many players agree that the Level 100 Skin Blingerella is the most boring Level 100 Skin of all time.
Season 9 – The Season with the Monster
This was Season 9: After the volcano erupted at the end of Season 8, both Tilted Towers and Retail Row were devastated. In Season 9, both places were rebuilt in a futuristic style and the entire theme of the season was science fiction.
These were the highlights: Throughout the season, a monster from Polar Peaks emerged, and to combat it, a giant robot was constructed. The robot then fought an epic final battle against the monster.
What was problematic: Since fans really wanted the controversial Drum Gun back in Season 8, this controversial weapon returned. Additionally, Epic added an astonishing amount of shotguns to the game and completely removed the popular pump shotgun. Instead, players got, among other things, the controversial drum shotgun.
