The hunting game Wild Hearts tells the story of the game in the latest trailer and shows a dog that you unfortunately cannot pet.
What kind of game is it? Wild Hearts is a new hunting game developed by the Japanese studio Koei Tecmo/Omega Force and published by EA.
The cooperative title is set to be released on February 17, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Origin, Steam, and the Epic Game Store.
Monster hunting in feudal Japan
What is Wild Hearts about? The game transports you to the world of “Azuma”, a place inspired stylistically by feudal Japan, where huge creatures live. These creatures are called “Kemono” and act very aggressively. They threaten the lives of the people of Azuma, who are now fighting against the monsters in risky battles.
One of the Kemono is a dangerous dog, or rather a wolf, that threatens the lives of the people. The menacing creature is called “Winterwolf Frostgrim” and no, you cannot pet it… or at least should not.
What does the gameplay look like? In battle, you have access to the so-called Karakuri technique. This is an ancient technology in the game’s story that allows people to create structures during a fight, which can give them a decisive advantage against the Kemono.
The Karakuri technique is one of the decisive components of Wild Hearts. Already after the announcement trailer, players wrote: Due to the Karakuri technique, the title reminds them of a mix of Monster Hunter and Fortnite. In the interview with MeinMMO editor-in-chief Leya Jankowski, the developers said: “We combine building with hunting.”
From petrified gorillas to giant wild boars
What does the trailer show? The trailer tells the story of Wild Hearts, the Kemono, and the lives of the people in a world with enormous monsters. We see cinematic action scenes from battles in which people use the Karakuri technique against various creatures.
00:11 – Battle against the giant gorilla “Lava Back” with a volcanic body
00:50 – Confrontation with the oversized bird “Amaterasu”
01:18 – Appearance of the winter wolf “Frostgrim” (caution, do not pet)
01:40 – Battle against the giant wild boar “Flora Grunter”
During the various battles, different structures of the Karakuri technique are also shown.
What do Monster Hunter fans say about the trailer? In the comments on YouTube, there are some users who identify as fans of Monster Hunter and express their excitement for Wild Hearts:
