The Valorant Champions is the most important tournament of Riot Games’ tactical shooter and this year’s edition of the World Championship has once again received its own anthem titled ‘Fire Again’. The music video particularly impresses the fans.
What kind of song is it? Fire Again is this year’s official anthem of the Valorant Champions. On various music streaming platforms like Spotify, the artists “VALORANT” and the American rapper Ashnikko are mentioned.
Animation pits eSports players against agents
What does the music video show? As the description reveals, the video showcases the world of professional eSports players clashing with the agents in a battle for the coveted Champions trophy.
We see well-known pro players like TenZ (Sentinels) and Scream (Team Liquid) fighting against agents like Cypher, Jett, and Raze.
However, many players are only visible for a fraction of a second. One has to be extremely attentive or even set the playback speed to 0.25x to recognize shooter legend Shroud from Sentinels at minute 00:57. The tragic part is, though, Shroud and his team are not participating in the World Championship.
If you missed the scene, we are embedding a screenshot of the frame where Shroud is visible.
“Motivates me to play”
What do the fans say? Overall, the music video, as well as the anthem itself, is well received by the fans. On YouTube, the animations especially receive much praise.
- Carnivore Gaming: “The animations keep getting better, props to the animator!”
- Hanze Aggabao: “The song didn’t touch me much, but the animation is just great.”
- Akeno: “Whenever Riot releases a music video, it inspires and motivates me to play. It shows how good they are at making these.”
- MaxSeinsei: “The crazy amount of work put into every single frame is just incredible. You keep surpassing yourselves, that was insane!”
What kind of tournament is it? The Valorant Champions is the World Championship of the tactical shooter held once a year and is therefore regarded as the biggest and most important tournament of the year.
Last year, the prize pool of the tournament was $1,000,000, marking the first edition of the World Championship. The winner was the European team Acend.
This year’s edition of the Valorant Champions begins on August 31. The tournament ends on September 18. As in the previous year, 16 teams will once again compete in four groups, before proceeding to the playoffs.
