At the Future Games Show on August 24, there was a lot to see. Among them was a new survival game that genre fans think the competition should be worried about.
Which game is it? The showcased survival game is titled “Rooted”. It is being developed by Headlight Studios and is set to release on Steam. However, according to the developers, a console release is not ruled out.
Rooted takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. The story is approximately set in the year 2100 and features abandoned ruins, forests, and sci-fi elements.
You can play the title either solo or cooperatively with your friends. However, you need to be careful about who or what you shoot, as the Steam page reveals, friendly fire could be a theme within the survival game.
Competition for The Day Before
Why should the competition be worried? Rooted has made a good impression on genre fans with its gameplay trailer. On YouTube, some users compare it to DayZ and The Last of Us. We at MeinMMO summarize some comments for you:

The Day Before is a survival game with shooter elements that was originally supposed to release on Steam in June 2022, but has postponed its release by almost a year.
Fight against animals, humans, and “steel”
What gameplay elements distinguish Rooted? The gameplay of Rooted is based on typical elements of the survival genre. For instance, you can build your own outposts or occupy abandoned buildings in the city.
In addition to deserted buildings, you have various items from the former civilization available that you can repair and use. You are also expected to receive more crafting options as the game progresses.
Furthermore, there are said to be events that will influence the world of Rooted. By the way, you are not alone in this world. In addition to wild animals, there will also be other humans who pose a danger to you.
Generally, Rooted focuses on PvE, but the developers write on their Discord server that they will add PvP at a later stage because a significant part of the community requested it.
On Steam, there is also the phrase “Whether from steel or flesh, choose your opponent wisely!” This statement suggests that there could also be enemies like drones or robots made of steel.
