Rainbow Six: Siege is a popular shooter from Ubisoft, known for its tactical gameplay. However, the title regularly features event modes that convey a comparatively casual gaming experience, independent of competitive gameplay. An event mode that is returning now is dividing the fans.
Which mode are we talking about? The returning mode is “Doctor’s Curse”, the Halloween event mode that was first playable in 2019. In October 2021, the mode made its comeback. This year, it is playable for the third time already.
What kind of mode is this? In this mode, players do not take on the usual roles of attackers or defenders, but rather of hunters and the hunted.
The gameplay principle of Doctor’s Curse is a mix of hide and seek. While the hunters are operators with abilities that help in searching for the hidden players, in 2019 the hunted were mostly operators with traps. These traps were meant to facilitate escape from the hunters.
Doctor’s Curse was played on the “Amusement Park” map, which has since been drastically overhauled. In the new trailer for the event, the old Halloween version of the map is shown, which was also played in 2019.
When is the mode playable again? Doctor’s Curse will be available from October 13, 2022, to November 2, in Rainbow Six: Siege.
Anticipation Meets Boredom
What do the players say? The community of Rainbow Six: Siege has two strong, opposing opinions regarding the return of the mode. This is also reflected in the comments on YouTube and Twitter.
Some players are not happy that a new mode is not coming, but rather an old one is being rehashed.

Other shooter fans, however, are looking forward to the return of the Halloween mode.
