Sony has presented PSVR 2 in detail in a trailer. Here you can see first impressions of VR games and some details of the new VR headset. You should check it out for yourself!
What is PSVR2? Sony had introduced PlayStation VR2 at CES 2022. Sony has completely redeveloped the VR system and the new device is supposed to fully utilize the hardware of the PS5. You will get new features that did not exist on the PS4:
- With 3D Audio, Sony introduced a new audio technology for the PS5. You should be able to use it with basic headphones.
- With haptic feedback on the DualSense controller, they also introduced another feature that allows you to immerse yourself better in your games.
What can be seen in the trailer? In the trailer, you can catch first impressions of several games. For example, short scenes from No Man’s Sky, Firewall Ultra, or the exclusive Horizon Call of the Mountain are shown. There are also a few detailed views of the controllers and the new VR headset.
PSVR 2: Price unknown, device expected to be released sometime in 2022
When will PS VR2 be released? Sony did not mention a release date. However, Sony stated that the device is expected to be released sometime in 2022. We would speculate on the Christmas season, but there is no official confirmation.
What will PS VR2 cost? A price is not yet known. The predecessor, PS VR, was priced at 399.99 euros at its launch in 2016 without the PlayStation Camera. Later, Sony reduced the price to 299.99 euros. It is likely that PS VR2 will also cost between 300 and 400 euros.
Another manufacturer, Meta, has significantly increased prices for its VR devices. For the previously affordable device “Meta Quest”, you now have to pay significantly more. Many users, however, state that with the new price a line has been crossed:
