The developers of the MMORPG Black Desert Online announce a new continent in the trailer. There you can travel quickly. For many, a long-awaited feature, but opinions are divided.
In the trailer, we take the perspective of a character who just awakens and is greeted by a mysterious robot voice – Wuju, the administrator of the Magnus, as it turns out shortly thereafter. Suddenly a teleport. He is now standing on a small flying island that seems to consist entirely of technological elements.
Wuju navigates the structure over the continent that looks like a landscape of sand and meadows. A huge boss with 4 legs and wings screams and creates a shockwave.
What kind of place is this? The Magnus is a new continent in Black Desert Online that exists independently of the rest of the MMORPG world. Time and space seem not to exist there, creating numerous new possibilities.
Those who are in the Magnus can travel quickly between different locations, called Abysses. There you will find new content like quests that guide you through the storyline of Magnus.
However, the trailer only announces the first Abyss. This means there will likely be more in the future.
Players argue about quick travel
Quick travel has not been possible in Black Desert Online until now. There are no teleporters or similar in the rest of the MMORPG. Players must walk or ride to their destination, which is often a considerable time investment.
One user on reddit defends the developers in a post. He does not think it is right that players now accuse the developers of having worked on a quick travel system for a year. The update is clearly much more than that.
Under the video on YouTube, there are numerous comments where opinions vary widely. Here’s a small overview:

When does the update come out? Abyss One: Magnus arrives in the MMORPG with the update on October 12, 2022. When more Abysses will be added, the developers have not yet revealed.
