There are many games on Steam, including some dating simulations. One of these dating sims is called Kaichu, but instead of building romances with humans, you build them with monsters. What is behind this?
What kind of game is this? Kaichu is a new dating simulation that has been available since September 7th. The crazy game was released on Steam, the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The full title of the game is: “Kaichu – The Kaiju Dating Sim”
The core principle of dating simulations is to meet different characters, have conversations, and build romances. Players simulate dating between various people… or beings… …or killers…… or humans and weapons.
In Kaichu, you meet 6 different monsters – and you are one yourself. The game takes you to 24 different locations that, according to Steam, are all based on real-world locations.
What does this have to do with Pacific Rim? Pacific Rim is a US action film from 2013. In the plot of the film, gigantic alien monsters attack the Earth, causing enormous damage and destruction.
Humans then defend themselves with equally gigantic combat robots against the monsters. These monsters are referred to as “Kaijū” in the film. Kaijū is a Japanese term that describes strange or mysterious beasts (via netzwelt.de).
The most well-known beast that falls under the term Kaijū is Godzilla. But King Kong could also fit the description.
As both the full title of the dating simulation (Kaichu – The Kaiju Dating Sim) and the description on Steam reveal, you play as a Kaijū in the game that wants to meet other creatures of its kind.
Kaichu is a dating simulation about Kaiju! You play the role of Gigachu, a gigantic romantic looking for love. Meet 6 other suitable Laiju and visit 24 famous landmarks, where Gigachu will answer difficult compatibility questions to determine the fate of your relationship.

What real places are depicted? In the launch trailer of Kaichu – The Kaiju Dating Sim, we already see various locations that will be included in the game. These mainly include landmarks that are known worldwide.
The following landmarks are shown in the trailer:
- the Eiffel Tower in Paris
- Chichen Itza, a significant Mayan ruin site in Mexico
- the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco
- Mount Rushmore, in the Black Hills in South Dakota
- the Statue of Liberty in New York City
- Big Ben in London
