In EA’s new hunting game Wild Hearts, you fight against monsters called Kemono and use weapons like katanas and umbrellas. The game is set to be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and a release date has already been announced.
What kind of game is this? Wild Hearts is a new hunting game from the Japanese developer studio Koei Tecmo, which leads you into the fantasy world of Azuma, inspired by feudal Japan.
In this world, you encounter the so-called Kemono. These are creatures filled with the power of nature that you hunt alone or in co-op with up to two friends. Once peaceful creatures have lost their calm disposition and are ravaging Azuma by changing their environment.
On your journey, you will come across various types of Kemono, including a plant squirrel and the wild boar “Floragrunzer” and the winter wolf “Frostgrim”.
When is the release of Wild Hearts? Wild Hearts is scheduled to be released on February 17, 2023, and will feature, among others, German, English, and Japanese voiceovers.
On which platforms will Wild Hearts be released?? Wild Hearts will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Origin, Steam, and the Epic Game Store.
Karakuri technique allows you to creatively influence the hunting area
What makes Wild Hearts stand out? Even in the trailer, the hunting game reminds players of Monster Hunter, where you also fight various monsters. However, compared to that, Wild Hearts is said to stand out due to a unique crafting system that you can use in your hunt for the Kemono.
This crafting system is represented in the game through the so-called Karakuri technique, which uses refined mechanisms of an ancient technology once thought to be lost in the world of Azuma.
You gain access to this technology after a fierce battle with the winter wolf Frostgrim, which awakens new powers within you, forcing you to restore balance to the region.
To utilize the Karakuri technique in battle and build flexible and creative hunting grounds, you must gather materials. You can then use these to create various types of Karakuri.
If you successfully defeat a Kemono, you will unlock new Karakuri and resources through that success, which you can also use from then on.

How is combat conducted in Wild Hearts? In your fights against the mighty Kemono, you have access to various weapons such as a katana and an umbrella, in addition to the Karakuri technique.
The weapon you choose determines your combat style, as each weapon has different attacks and a different gameplay tempo.
The game world offers 4 hunting areas: Azuma, the world of Wild Hearts, is divided into four hunting areas, each corresponding to the four seasons and all accessible from the village of Minato.
