A YouTuber has unveiled a special mini-version of Elden Ring using a unique camera technique. This is what the action RPG looks like as a completely different game. Fans are thrilled.
The YouTuber Flurdeh regularly showcases cool videos where he demonstrates his camera technique. Now there is a new video that presents the open-world giant Elden Ring from a new perspective.
This changes the entire atmosphere of the game. Flurdeh illustrates this with numerous areas around the game world of Elden Ring.
You can watch the video yourself here:
Elden Ring from a new perspective thanks to special technique
The video shows: First, we see the entrance of the church of Elleh, right at the tutorial dungeon. We can see the game character in motion as he enters the church. There, we also see the merchant Kalé.
We also get to see the grace site, areas around the capital Leyndell, the massive stone bridge to the giants’ peak, and numerous other locations from the Lands Between.
Despite the perspective and filters, many exciting details are visible, and the game’s graphics fit surprisingly well. It also provides a brand new perspective on the level design by developer FromSoftware.
What technique does the creator use?
- In an interview with PCGamesN Kevin “Flurdeh” Hensen explains that he discovered the “Tilt Shift” technique back in 2015. In this technique, a part of the image is focused while the rest is blurred.
- For cameras, there are special tilt lenses that bend the optical axis. This way, you can alter recordings as shown in the video.
Hensen explained back then in the interview:
A real tilt lens was too expensive for me. But around the same time, I started to get interested in virtual photography in games, and I tried to simulate that with screenshots. They didn’t look good at first, but over the years, I kept experimenting with different techniques. Eventually, I started making videos again, and when I wanted to try it out again, I thought: ‘Why not in video form?’
His tiny videos with tilt-shift were made for Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3, Days Gone, Cyberpunk 2077, Battlefield 1, Skyrim, and many other titles.
