The vampire-MMORPG Shadow’s Kiss can finally be played by everyone in December, just not on Steam. At least not in Germany, as the game, focusing on BDSM and Gore, is not available on Steam here. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What kind of game is this? Shadow’s Kiss is said to be an MMORPG for adults, and this is reflected throughout the game. There are strong depictions of violence, as well as playable sex between the different creatures in the game.
However, the MMO mechanics are not neglected, as in the classless character system you can continue to specialize and improve in one direction. In line with the setting, you can enhance your art of seduction, but melee combat and necromancy are also part of your talents.
Aside from levels and attributes, progress in Shadow’s Kiss mainly occurs through finding better items. So there is a bit of grind in the MMORPG. While the developers say that the game can also be played well solo, most areas offer group content as well.
What features does it offer? The MMORPG is said to offer much more than just blood and sex for adults. You can look forward to the following features:
- A large character editor where you can define not only your appearance but also your story and sexuality.
- No holy trinity between healer, tank, and DPS. Instead, a classless character system in which you can further specialize.
- The ability to further develop and specialize your vampire. Here you can become, among other things, a necromancer or a lustful succubus.
- Quest and loot system
- Housing
- PvE and PvP, dungeons, solo and group content in a turn-based combat system
- The ability to control humans and assign tasks to them to further improve yourself.
- Playable sex scenes where you can experiment in BDSM, both as a dominant and a submissive partner.

Game is apparently too hot for German Steam
When can you play Shadow’s Kiss? So far, there have only been individual beta dates that you could participate in with luck, or not. But in December, the game is finally supposed to open and start a permanent beta. However, a specific date for this is not yet set.
There, all supporters of the title on Patreon and Kickstarter, and those who purchase access directly on the game’s website, can participate. The developers announced this via Facebook (via Facebook).
The early access is also still announced for 2022 on Steam, but as it stands, not for us anymore.
Steam yes, but not in Germany: Although the early access is still supposed to run on Steam, the product page for Shadow’s Kiss is no longer available in Germany. There is no exact explanation for this, but it is likely that the game contains explicit and sexual, uncensored content.
Since the end of 2020, Steam has been blocking such adult games for German users. This is likely a consequence of a complaint from the media authority Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein. The problem is likely not the games themselves, but the screenshots on the game store pages, as reported by our colleagues at GameStar.
Whether this is the exact reason for the ban of Shadow’s Kiss in Germany, we cannot say, but it is conceivable. Also, since when the game has not been available on German Steam is unclear. Following our theory, it should have been the case since May, when the screenshots on the Steam page were changed (via SteamDB).
If you want to join, you can still do so via Patreon, Kickstarter, and the website itself, as the MMORPG works through its own launcher.
The community remains divided
What do the players say? Many people are a bit put off by the graphical quality of Shadow’s Kiss. For a game in 2022, the visualization and the animations seem very outdated and not as smooth as they expected.
Furthermore, some users are skeptical about the funding of the game. Originally, Shadow’s Kiss started on Kickstarter and reached its goal there within just 36 hours, but also set an extremely low budget target of $25,000 for an MMORPG.
Other fans are convinced that the game does not need particularly strong graphics to be good. The approach of Shadow’s Kiss seems to appeal to enough people to quickly fill a Kickstarter goal, say the fans (via reddit).
