Valorant aims to bring 6 new heroes every year. However, so far we know very little about the upcoming agents and nothing about the characters yet to come. Dataminers have now found hints of agents named Shatter and Crusader. But Riot says: Nope, they are not coming anymore.
Who are the new agents Shatter and Crusader? Dataminers have dug deep into the code of Valorant in search of information about upcoming heroes. Because often hidden clues about new assets can be found there well in advance. Therefore, they were not too surprised to see concrete traces of two new agents:
- One agent is said to be named Shatter and is able to create clones of himself. They distract the enemies.
- An other hero apparently goes by the name Crusader and he is said to carry a shield. He can even drop the shield and create portable cover. In addition, he is supposed to throw grenades.
The two agents have a slight resemblance to the characters Mirage and Gibraltar from Apex Legends, which have similar skills.
Riot says: “That is all off the table for a long time”
What is behind the new agents? Since at least three new agents should come this year, one each in August, October and December, the calculations actually fit. Because if Killjoy/Bombshell comes in August, then the two later slots would still be free for Shatter and Crusader.
But here Riot sadly put a damper on the enthusiasm. Because lead character designer Ryan “Morello” Scott spoke up via Twitter and explained that the two agents Shatter and Crusader have long been off the table.
“[They are] super old, canceled characters. I have already talked a lot about how Crusader was kicked. You all are reading too much into the files – [There are] many things that have been cut from the game over time.”
Specifically, he means that Shatter has been completely scrapped and was also not an early version of the duelist Phoenix, as was suspected. Crusader, on the other hand, was an early draft of an agent who then became the character Breach. He comes without a shield, but with tons of CC skills.
You will probably never see the agents Shatter and Crusader in Valorant. At least unless Riot decides to dig up the ancient concepts someday.

What do we really know about the upcoming agent? The hints about the agent coming in August have not been denied by Riot, however. Accordingly, there should actually be an agent named Bombshell or Killjoy. He is supposed to have something to do with robots and turrets and might even come from Germany. As the start of Act 2 of Season 1 is expected to start soon, there will certainly be more information about the upcoming agent in Valorant soon.
