In Valorant the ranked system is still a concern and many players are bothered by it. Now the well-known Twitch streamer Brandon “Aceu” Winn has spoken out and explained what annoys him about the ranking mode.
What’s wrong with the ranked mode? Since the introduction of the ranked mode in Valorant, players have been complaining about it. A persistent annoyance is the lack of separation between solo-ranked and team-ranked.
In Valorant all ranked players of a certain level are currently placed in a matchmaking pool and it can happen that you register solo for a match and face a fixed team of 5 friends that are much better coordinated than your chaotic team of 4 randoms.
This advantage allows several rather weak players to reach ranks that are actually too high for them. And when they eventually play solo, they are usually individually too weak to really contribute meaningfully to the game at their current rank, which ruins the fun for all other teammates.

That’s so stupid! That’s so stupid! I can’t stand it. I really want to play this game and have fun. But with this terrible ranking system, that’s not possible. It’s just too harsh. I feel so unmotivated right now!
What could be done? Aceu feels like many fans of Valorant who would love to have an exciting, competitive mode and simply cannot enjoy it in its current form. Even the top streamer shroud currently has no joy in ranked. Introducing separate matchmaking playlists for solo and small teams and one specifically for 5-player squads would be a good start for many fans.
What is Riot Games doing? Indeed, Riot Games is aware that the ranked system is currently a weak point in Valorant. According to a developer’s statement, the staff responsible for ranked left the company and his successor was apparently not adequately arranged. Therefore, currently no one is really responsible for ranked, but they will take care of it.
