Player NisaY led the European leaderboard in the shooter Valorant . But now he has been banned by Riot Games for a year. He sees himself as innocent.
Who is it about? 23-year-old player Yasin “NisaY” Gök was part of the Beşiktaş Esports team. But the Turkish team has now kicked him out. NisaY was ranked 1st in the European leaderboard in Valorant.
However, the player disagrees with Riot’s decision.
The ban from Riot and the kick from the team
Riot’s ban: On February 4, the Turkish Twitter account of Valorant-ESports announced that they would be banning player NisaY. The team caught him using cheats in a ranked game.
As a consequence, a 12-month ban was imposed on player NisaY. He is now not allowed to play or participate in any tournaments. At that time, NisaY was at the top of the European leaderboard for Valorant with 75 wins and a rating of 771.

This is how his team reacted: NisaY was still playing for the Beşiktaş Esports team at that time. After Riot’s ban announcement, they terminated the contract with NisaY. On Twitter they write (via Twitter with Google Translate):
“We have terminated the contract of our player Yasin “NisaY” Gök. We will provide the necessary explanations regarding the future of our VALORANT team in the coming days. […]”
This is what NisaY says about it
In a tweet from February 2, NisaY explains that he was downgraded from Valorant’s highest rank in the leaderboard, Radiant, to the rank of Immortal.
He had contacted the anti-cheating team to clarify the situation.

Then the ban followed. In a statement (via Twitlonger) NisaY professes his innocence. He writes: “I am not that stupid to cheat just to play Radiant.” Further in the statement:
“They said they had never experienced anything like this at any Riot tournament. We went back a long time and continuously exchanged information with Riot. When we asked them what 3rd-party software it was about and if they could show us evidence (since we were under pressure from the community), they said they would not do that.”
He explains that he received a 12-month ban due to suspicion. “If they had actually determined that I used cheats, that would have been a permanent ban.”
What do you think about this? Do you think Riot Games must now provide evidence to NisaY to justify their ban? Or is it enough justification if Riot reviewed this with their team and sees the ban as justified? And if all of this is true, are 12 months enough as a ban duration?
