In Valorant some agents have skills that last for a certain period of time. But how long do they really last? Here you can find out and improve your timing.
What are the effect durations? Various agents in Valorant, including Brimstone and Phoenix, have skills that not only trigger immediately, but also have long-lasting effects. A prime example of this are flashes or the popular “smokes”, which are smoke clouds and other visual obstructions.
However, since the game does not reveal how long these effects last, a reddit user named “Jaotis” has taken the time to measure the duration of each individual lasting effect in the game using a stopwatch in training mode.

The key insights from the list
This applies to Brimstone: The grumpy veteran only has skills with longer effect durations. It is particularly noticeable that he can hold an opposing team back for a very long time. His enormously useful smoke bombs last for 14 seconds.
His incendiary grenade makes areas practically impassable for 8 seconds, and if that’s still not enough, he can create an absolute death zone for another 4 seconds with his ultimate. So Brimstone can hold his enemies back for almost half a minute, which is a lot of time in Valorant!
This applies to Breach: The initiator Breach also only has lasting effects. However, except for his ultimate, all of them are only active for a few seconds. Therefore, this agent is only suitable for players with good timing.
This applies to Cypher and Jett: Both agents provide valuable “smokes” for team protection. But keep in mind that both the Cyber Cage and Jett’s “Cloudburst” only last for 7 seconds. They are therefore the shortest smokes in the game.
This applies to Omen and Viper: These two tricksters have the overall longest smokes. Both last for 15 seconds, and Omen’s smokes are even better due to their high versatility. Viper’s Snakebite lasts another 5 seconds once Viper leaves the pit.
This applies to Phoenix: Phoenix has a lot of skills that last longer. His firewall lasts for 8 seconds, which is quite decent. However, it is particularly important that you keep in mind the 10 seconds of his ultimate. After this duration, Phoenix teleports back to his starting point. But 10 seconds is a lot of time in Valorant, during which a lot can happen.
This applies to Raze: The demolition expert Raze can cause chaos with her Boom Bot for a full 10 seconds. Her Satchels last for 5 seconds if you really want to utilize them for that long and not use them for wall destruction or as jumping aids.
Interestingly, her ultimate is active for exactly 10 seconds. During this time, you need to launch the dreaded rocket or it will fizzle out uselessly.
This applies to Reyna: This hard-to-master agent has relatively short skills. Her blinding effect “Dismay” is very effective but only lasts for 2 seconds. Her skills, which she activates with kills, also have a very short duration. So time her use well!
However, with her ultimate, you can take your time. It lasts for 30 seconds and can be extended further with kills.
This applies to Sage: Here, it is immediately noticeable how incredibly long the ice wall holds if you don’t shoot it down. You can completely seal areas for a full 30 seconds. Sage’s slowing effect also lasts for 7 seconds, effectively delaying any rush.
Interestingly, the healing effect lasts for 5 seconds until it fully unfolds. So don’t run off immediately, but wait until the healing is completed.
This applies to Sova: The grim hunter can scout the area with his drone for 10 seconds. That is quite a long time. The sonar arrow has a shorter duration of 5 seconds. So use it wisely. And keep in mind that with the ultimate, you only have 6.5 seconds to fire all your shots.
