In Valorant patch 1.3 was released on the servers. It includes a lot of quality-of-life changes. However, a tiny change brings special joy to the fans, as the times are finally over when you could unintentionally insult and offend your teammates.
What exactly is it about? In real life as well as in the game, one is often overcome by anger or rage and would prefer to curse loudly or insult those who are currently annoying. But often, one backs down and swallows the angry retort.
In real life, you just don’t say it. In the game, through text chat, you leave the chat window without sending the angry tirade. It’s unfortunate, however, if the game simply retains the typed chat message and does not automatically delete it when you press the escape key to cancel the text window.
Update 1.3 finally fixes the chat – players rejoice
Valorant does not delete text: Therefore, it often happened in Valorant that a player who has written an angry text did not send it, either because he did not want to or had to react quickly in the game. Later, when the game ended, he only wanted to throw a respectful “GG” (Good Game) into the chat, but instead, texts like “You fucking bitchGG” or similar niceties appeared.
This is because Valorant did not delete the previous text, and by entering new text again, the new text was simply appended to the last written one. This often leads to such scenes as recently seen on reddit:
But the player actually just wanted to write “it must be nice …” and only got to “it must be ni” because the game continued. Until the end of the round, he wrote nothing more. Together with the GG he finally wrote, this led to an involuntary association for the “N-word”. Such a thing can potentially lead to a ban. It was high time that Valorant fixed the chat!
Patch 1.3 brings the solution: The annoyance with the chat has been in the game since the beta, but after 3 months and with patch 1.3, the developers finally put the redeeming words in the patch notes:
If you press the ESC key while typing, the content of the chat box will be deleted.
This brought great joy to players on reddit:
- “Finally!”
- “Really the best part of the entire patch!”
- “Finally, I wanted to write “Fast push” and ended up with “faGG” and was afraid I would get banned.”
Sometimes it’s the little things that bring particularly great joy. Also, not bad is the “big” change from the new patch 1.3. The disliked Guardian rifle has been properly buffed. The weapon is now cheaper and penetrates walls well.
