In Riot Games’ online shooter Valorant, an exploit has been discovered that is so severe that the developers must lock an entire map.
What exploit is it? Agent Reyna was able to sneak under the platforms on the C-Site of the Haven map using her Dismiss ability. She essentially disappeared under the map and could then easily plant the Spike bomb.
In this way, she was even able to attach the bomb in the platform where it could not be defused.
Only if an opposing Reyna also exploited this did the other team have an effective countermeasure.
Riot locks Haven map in Valorant
How is Riot Games responding? The development team has now removed the Haven map from the competitive pool. It is no longer possible to play on it until the exploit is fixed.
Why did the entire map have to be locked? It is a somewhat more complicated issue. Riot Games is not sure when the map can be made available again. To prevent the problem from being exploited further in the meantime, Haven has been temporarily removed.
The team states:
We were made aware of an exploit on Haven and have disabled it in the queue while we prepare a fix overnight. The map will be re-added to the rotation as soon as we are convinced that the exploit has been resolved.
How long has the exploit existed? According to players, it has been possible for about a week for Reyna to plant the bomb unnoticed through the exploit.
Riot Games seems to have general issues with the Haven map. Because even before the Reyna exploit, Agent Omen was able to unfairly exploit his teleportation ability to teleport onto the platform, placing the bomb in a location unreachable for others.
