On Twitch, a VR streamer was banned from the platform due to allegedly inappropriate clothing. She finds this unjust as other content creators have streamed similar or even worse content.
What kind of streamer is she? She is the streamer Ana Valens, who has over 1,000 followers on her Twitch channel acvalens and captivates an average of 12 viewers (via sullygnome). She plays shooters like VALORANT or Deadlock but does not show her face; instead, she has her own anime character.
This character adapts to her movements while she speaks normally with her own voice. This type of streamer calls themselves VTubers, and the scene is widespread. Normally, VTubers do not show their face, which can have many reasons such as shyness or the protection of their privacy.
In our video, we introduce you to the five most relevant Twitch streamers from the German scene:
“Did I really do something wrong?”
How did the ban come about? VTuber Ana Valens was streaming normally on Twitch on April 9, 2025, when she suddenly could no longer access her chat. Her program OBS automatically stopped the stream, leaving the streamer puzzled.
Twitch then sent her an email explaining that the streamer had been banned for 24 hours “due to inappropriate clothing.” In her stream, her character wore a bikini and a swimsuit in quick succession, which, as she admits herself, were quite sexy.
Streamer finds ban unfair: Nevertheless, she does not believe her ban is justified. In her VICE article that she published shortly after, she expressed her frustration. There she poses the question: “Did I really do something wrong compared to other VRChat streamers?”
She believes that, compared to what other VTubers stream on the platform, her misstep (and the bikini) was not that bad. To support her point, she gives examples:
- A video with over 2,900 views in the VRChat category on Twitch shows a VR character dancing in a bikini top and tight pants. The camera focuses solely on her backside and hips.
- Another clip with over 1,000 views shows a catgirl in a top that is far too tight for her bust.
- Yet another clip with at least 2,400 views shows a female character in a bodysuit that barely covers most of her breast. In another outfit, the pants are so tight that they leave little to the imagination.
With these examples, she is not trying to drag other VTubers through the mud. She just wants to clarify that Twitch does not really follow its own rules. She feels helpless, as it is a game where the rules change constantly, making it difficult for her to keep track of them.
Ana Valens filed an appeal against the ban, pointing out that other VTubers create similar content. However, the platform rejected this, and she had to serve the 24-hour penalty. A ban does not always have to mean something bad. Another streamer had the opportunity to grow even bigger on a competing platform: Twitch bans big streamer, who grows even bigger at the competition, is now allowed to return.
