V Rising is a new survival game for PC on Steam in the works. The special thing is: you play a vampire with your own castle. A new gameplay video shows how you fight as a vampire in the game.
What kind of game is this? In V Rising, you play a vampire who has been stripped of his power. Slowly, you try to regain your old strength. To do this, you drain the blood from humans and animals and build your own castle.
At its core, V Rising is a survival game with reversed roles, as you yourself are “the danger” that players typically run from. But you are also fighting for survival, which is harder during the day, because sunlight burns you.
The studio behind V Rising is Stunlock Studios, which has created Bloodline Champions and Battlerite. The action influences of the games are reflected in the new project, which is heavily reminiscent of ARPGs like Diablo in terms of gameplay.
This is what the new gameplay shows: In a new video, the developers show how you fight as a vampire in V Rising. You have various approaches at your disposal:
- Ranged combat with ranged weapons like crossbows
- Melee with swords, spears, glaives, and scythes
- Magic, allowing you to merge with shadows and attack opponents from behind
- Cavalry combat
The action bar displays various skills that you can use. In addition to “normal” opponents like humans and wildlife, you will also face other players and even bosses, which were already visible in the first gameplay. We have included the nearly two-minute video here for you:

What else is in V Rising? The unique features of V Rising are mainly the vampire-gothic setting and the action-packed gameplay. However, the new game includes even more features:
- You build your own castle, which serves as a personal player base. 50 castles are supposed to be possible per server.
- Full loot – if you die, you lose your loot and must go pick it up again.
- A day-night cycle that determines when and where you can hunt. At night, you are stronger as a vampire, which significantly differs from other survival games.
- PvP and clans are also expected to play a major role.
One of the most important features in the game is blood. You get it from humans and, in an emergency, from animals. The blood of special opponents like scholars enhances certain abilities of your vampire.

When and where can I play V Rising? V Rising is set to release for PC on Steam, with the closed beta expected to start in early 2022. You can sign up on the official website for it. A preparatory beta already started in December 2021 to ensure everything goes smoothly for the upcoming test.
