“100,000 unique viewers for the first time”, he posted
On April 20, 2024, vpnninja87 posted on X that he had for the first time over 100,000 unique viewers. He showed a stream statistic to back this up.
According to this statistic, he streamed for 12 hours, had an average of 1,312 viewers, and his peak viewer count was 2,458.
However, there were only 39 unique chatters, which seemed unusual given the 100,000 unique viewers. This led to speculation in the Twitch community that he had used view bots.
What is a view bot? A view bot is an automated program that artificially increases the viewer count of a stream. This is done to give the impression that a stream is more popular than it actually is. Twitch strictly prohibits view botting and takes rigorous action against streamers who use such methods.
“Another one going down the drain”, commented a user
The reactions from the Twitch community came in swiftly.
How are users reacting on X? User Dylan Velez commented: “Lmao, you must be a certain type of person to be happy about bought viewers.” The streamer replied: “Embedding, check it, yes, it costs something, but that’s true for all marketing.”
User The Jman commented: “The sad thing isn’t that he’s embedding, but that he has no idea how bad it looks for him and that it ruins any chance of actually growing in this space. Another one going down the drain.” The streamer replied: “Lol, I’ve been hearing this every month for 3 months. I’m still here.”
Working Man’s Warzone commented: “Dude, if you only had 39 unique chat participants out of all those people… yeah, keep celebrating, buddy.” User Gothalion shared the sentiment: “39 chat participants. What are you celebrating about?” The streamer replied: “Even if there were hundreds of participants, it wouldn’t make a difference. Most comments can be answered by a bot. Real discussion topics are very rare.”
Shortly thereafter, he was banned from Twitch
On April 23, 2024, vpnninja87 posted a screenshot that showed he had appealed his ban on Twitch. The photo revealed that he was banned for unmoderated chat, hate speech, and symbols, among other things.
What does the community say? User Ghost_vui commented: “Bro, all I see here are 2 rejected appeals and then one for hate speech. Log out, this isn’t the success you think it is.” The streamer confidently replied: “Lol, yes, but my channel will magically be back in a few hours, just wait and see.”
Another user named Oh no, it’s Ri commented: “Still, you are banned for view botting.” The streamer replied: “No, sorry, it was because people weren’t banned quickly enough.”
User ItsYeshalot commented: “Do you want to go back to view botting after this incident or have you learned your lesson?” The streamer replied: “Lol, you can’t learn from a lie. You should know that by now.”
What is the current status? As of now, on April 23, 2024, at 16:00, the channel of vpnninja87 is still banned and the streamer has not posted any further updates.
